About Jimmy Garcia
Jimmy’s been called the ‘prince of pop-ups’, ‘tycoon of temporary restaurants’ and ‘the baron of BBQs’ and The Sunday Times called him ‘London’s pop-up king’.
Yorkshire born and bred with a food-obsessed Spanish father, at 19 years old he took on a job working as a ski chalet chef in France, followed by stints as a private chef on a Mediterranean superyacht each summer while at university.
Shortly after arriving in Balham, London, he decided to turn his front room into a restaurant one night a month. He borrowed tables and chairs from a local church and asked his housemates to be waiters. It became so popular he had to start searching for bigger venues.
Since then Jimmy has hosted pop-up dinners all over London in pubs, wine shops and warehouses, (oh and on a cable car over the Thames!).
This all led to regular TV chef appearances on ITV’s This Morning and Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch and his own cookbook. This summer he is running his pop-up restaurant The BBQ Club on the South Bank for the 8th year) and a permanent bar called TEN located at the Southbank Centre. Winter will see the return of his alpine themes pop-up at Somerset House.
Jimmy Garcia also runs a hugely successful catering business Jimmy Garcia Catering where works for clients that include Google, Meta, Netflix, Pinterest and Spotify.
If you have a space that needs popping up or a party, wedding, brand activation or awards dinner that needs a caterer. Jimmy would love to work with you!
